Press release from city of Elk Grove

Elk Grove, CA – As work on the Sheldon Interchange progresses, the City of Elk Grove will be closing East Stockton Blvd. from the Northbound 99 on-ramp to Geneva Point Drive beginning June 2.

This closure is necessary for significant underground work and roadway reconstruction to take place.

The closure will occur from June 2 through July 18.

On- ramps will still be operational. Detour signs will be placed to direct traffic around the closure. Through traffic that normally uses East Stockton Blvd. between Sheldon Road and Geneva Point should use Power Inn Road, approximately ½ mile to the east.

Local residents needing to access their homes within the detour area will be able to access their property under regulated traffic control.

Message signs will alert motorists in advance of the road closure several days before construction begins.

The Sheldon Interchange project remains on schedule, with completion expected in fall 2009.
