I just want to shout out to all of the loyal brewery supporters over the years…So many of you have been complimentary about the beer and the brewery regulars have been the best! I knew EG Brewery was going to be a casualty after visiting Old Town merchants a few weeks ago. As I wrote afterwards, our merchants there are not doing well, and not surprisingly, it's due largely to the remodernization. EG Brewery said they lost so much business during the refurb, they never recovered. Look for another merchant closing on Oct 18. This is evidence we need to do what I said: Concentrate efforts on helping our existing businesses stay open, not on pie-in-the-sky schemes to bring in more business, that will never materialize due to the current economic climate.
Time for a reality check, EG candidates!
