The Elk Grove City Council decided tonight to drop the vehicle maintenance service contract that had been awarded to Elk Grove Ford late last year.

The decision was announced by Elk Grove City Attorney Jonathon Hobbs following the council's special closed session meeting. The council voted 3-2 to drop the contract with council members Gary Davis and Pat Hume in the minority.

The decision stems from a recent lawsuit from Downtown (Sacramento) Ford after being denied the contract even though they were the low bidder. At the time the council awarded the contract to Elk Grove Ford saying it was in the best interest of the city to award the contract to a local vendor.

During his brief comments on the matter Hobbs said the city will not appeal the tentative ruling recently issued that the city had improperly awarded the contract to Elk Grove Ford. Hobbs also said that city will consider awarding the contract to Downtown Ford at a future meeting.

Amazing what a little public heat can accomplish! Imagine what a LOT of public heat could accomplish in this town!!

They did this just to be reelected and then when they are they will do something stupid again. This is how it works in politics. We need a new councile.

For whatever reason, I am grateful the council and attorney righted a wrong. We can thank Hume for this fiasco as his actions lead directly to this lawsuit. The council seemingly would have approved the consent calendar that night without a second thought but Hume and his desire to please his friends and make political hay, started this ugly mess.

I guess C.C. and M.F. got to the councile. They seem to have controll over them. If you don't do as they say they can bring problems and accusations against you.
