A Regional Transit Light Rail hit two cars shortly after 12 noon today. The sole occupant of one of the car has survived the crash and has been transferred to an area hospital.

The driver of a second car, a pregnant lady, reportedly sustained minor injuries and two light rail passengers reportedly sustained injuries.

According to one witness, the BMW was traveling northbound on 10th and when it crossed the intersection it was hit on the drivers side by a light rail traveling east on O St. The witness said the car had its right hand turn indicator but could not tell whether or not the car had run a red light.

The unidentified driver appeared to be alone in the car. The man was extracted from the vehicle with the jaws of life by members of by Sacramento Fire Dept.

Although the condition of the man is not known at this time, it appears that he was conscious as he was transferred to a nearby hospital.

Elk Grove will never have this problem. Instead, our City Council plans to launch a fleet of "rapid buses". Unless these buses can fly or leap tall buildings, they will get stuck in traffic just like the cars. See, a positive side to everything!
