Elk Grove City Manager Laura Gill and City Attorney Jonathon Hobbs issued a finding early yesterday evening regarding a complaint filed on April 27 alleging Council Member Steve Detrick of ethics violations. (see story on complaint here.)

A one sentence response to a public information request read "The City Manager and City Attorney reviewed the complaint and determined no future investigation or action is necessary."

In their response, the city manager and attorney did not respond to a request to explain the procedure for handling the complaint.

According to Elk Grove City Clerk Jason Lindgren once a complaint is filed "it is processed to identify the lead department(s), staff forward the complaint to the lead department, and confirms the department is the lead who would receive the complaint. Lead department staff evaluate the complaint and respond accordingly. We don’t have a written policy for the agency regarding responses to complaints. The form provided at the Office of the City Clerk for a complaint is our department form to track receipt, delivery, and confirmation of an item."

I wonder if the Grand Jury will have a different opinion?

No big surprise here. Gill and Hobbs want to keep their jobs. Maybe if Scherman was still mayor, she would have called for another investigation as she did with Tom Waltman’s.

Good news, there is plenty of precedent on past grand jury complaints regarding the Elk Grove City Council and their wrongdoings. Hopefully, with more to follow they will finally say “enough!”

It is time for a change. we need to clean house and we need to start with the city manager. Then with the councile. Anyone going to run against Detrick and Cooper. I know they have all the money. And they also have unions and buiilders in their pockets

This wasn't news to start with. The complaint, as seen on this site, had lots of speculation and appeared to be a personal vendetta against Detrick from suspect individuals. One so called incident had Detrick and Cooper having a drink after a local meeting with a presenter..only Detrick was fingered as having a conflict? Why not Cooper? It was clear these ladies have gotten to the bottom of the barrel in regards to issues. Time to move on. Gald Hobbs had enough sense to nip this in the bid. The grand jury won't touch this with a ten foot pole. Where is the evidence? I suspect there isn't anything but hurt feelings.

You are so corect. It seems that Connie and Linda and company are starting to lose thier status with the community. False claims like this have lead us to belive that their were others that were made against people that were totaly false.

I hope these two Detrick supporters who have posted above aren’t currently doing his writing for him. It is no secret who did all of Detrick’s writings for him.

The above posts contain dreadfully poor grammar, and it looks like neither have a clue about language rules. Not to mention that every computer has spell check.

Best of all, they are dead giveaways as to the authors.

Amateurish and boring!

Boy, talk about bitter women!

Please find something constructive or positive to put your efforts towards. If you can't find anything, then please just go away!

Neither of you have any credibility anymore.

Humm...at least city officials didn's spend 5,000 this time to find out nothing amiss. Move on already. Boring indeed.

The Connie and Linda show is about to end. People are getting tired of this. Please follow the last post and move on or move out.

Didn't know my 5th grade English teacher is on this site...ahahahhahh! Was that a threat to someone about "dead giveaway as to the authors"??? These people are scary.

Steve Detrick’s vigilantes want two citizens to move out of Elk Grove for exercising their democratic right to hold local government accountable. Be very afraid!

A little over the top, don't you think...Where is this "move out of town" lingo? Typical of this group. Yell "Fire" and watch people squirm.

The vitriol regarding this is somewhat interesting. Whether you agree with the meat of the complaint or not, we all have the right to a complaint with the city.

Keeping our government accountable and transparent are the foundations of government by and for the people. If we are to trust the city manager and attorney found no merit in the complaint, it is time to drop this and move on.

Trading barbs does good for no one.
