|More food trucks may soon be plying the streets and parking lots of Elk Grove soon.|
In considering changes to the food truck ordinance, the city's staff report noted the rise in popularity of the these type of operators and their ability to provide customers inexpensive culturally diverse offerings. If enacted the new ordinance would among other things offer expanded hours of operations and time limits.
If the council decides to change the ordinance they must also decide whether or not to follow a recommendation of the planning commission and restrict food trucks from operating within 350 feet of restaurants.
While the city will consider easing rules for food trucks, the city will also consider adopting language to tighten rules for Elk Grove beekeepers. The proposed change will require beekeepers to maintain larger sources of water.
The rule change comes as a result of several complaints received about bees using water sources other than those associated with the hives.
Wednesday's meeting will start at 6 p.m.
