A security guard working near an Elk Grove grocery store was injured after being assaulted early Saturday morning.
According to Elk Grove Police, the 28-year old male victim was patrolling the Winco parking lot on Sheldon Road when 21-year old Javon Basped of Sacramento allegedly threw a two liter bottle at him and punched him in the face several times. The victim suffered visible injuries that required medical attention.
Responding officers located the suspect walking away from the parking lot and after being contacted, attempt to run away. Officers were able to capture the suspect who was positively identified by the victim.
Basped was arrested and taken to the county jail.
