According to information posted by Sacramento County County Voters Registrar Jill Lavine, the next update on the Ami Bera-Dan Lungren race will be released at 3 p.m., Friday, Nov 9.

The Registrar estimates there are 193,000 ballots left to verify and process during the canvass period. Of this amount, 162,000 are Vote by Mail ballots and 31,000 are polling place provisional ballots. By state law, the Registrar has 28 days to complete the canvass.

In one of the more closely watched and bitterly fought Congressional races that was accurately classified a toss-up, Bera currently has a razor thin lead of 184 votes.

“Although we do not know our race’s final results, we feel confident going into the next several days,” said Dr. Bera. “The Sacramento County Registrar of Voters is doing an incredible job with the difficult task of counting tens of thousands of provisional and absentee ballots. The top priority right now is to make sure that every vote is fairly counted.”
