Since Elk Grove's purchase last fall from Union Pacific Railroad, the vacant lot in Old Town on Elk Grove Blvd. has already hosted a seasonal ice rink and more recently a one night food truck event.
According to City of Elk Grove public information officer Christine Brainerd, the Old Town Plaza is available for use and the public is being encouraged to use it.
"Currently requests should be submitted to the City Manager through Ask Elk Grove," Brainerd said. "We will establish an application process that will be promoted when available."
Brainerd said a fee schedule has not been established and city staff will evaluate any costs that should be recovered in proposing a fee for Council’s consideration. Users will need to provide insurance and basic services, such as trash, restrooms, power and furnishings.
Brainerd also noted the Rain Garden near Ctiy Hall which opened last Spring is also available for use.
