Elk Grove Police had to employ pursuit intervention techniques to stop a suspect who fled a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

According to police reports, officers stopped a vehicle being driven by 42-year old Ronald Murray of Elk Grove for a vehicle code violation near Elk Grove and Franklin boulevards. As officers approached the suspect's car, he fled leading officers on a six-and-half mile vehicle pursuit.

The pursuit ended after officers deployed pursuit intervention techniques as the suspect drove through a park. Murray was taken into custody without incident.

A records check revealed that Murray was on probation and had an active warrant out for his arrest. A probation search of his vehicle led to the recovery of one shotgun round of ammunition.

Murray was arrested and taken to the county jail where he remains in custody on a $165,000 bail.
