Elk Grove Police Officer Jason Jimenez, who was the first officer on the scene was the second prosecution witness. Jimenez said he received the call and was at the scene in two to three minutes after being dispatched.

After showing an in-car video of Jimenez' drive to the scene, Reeves asked the six-year police veteran what he saw once he turned on to Power Inn Road but prior to arriving at the accident scene.

"I was on the intersection of Power Inn and Vista Brooks and I saw a female walking on the side of the street walking southbound, " he said.

Jimenez was asked if the subject did anything to flag down his patrol car, which was displaying its emergency lights and sirens, as he passed her.

"Nothing, but walking," he replied.

Jimenez further testified the female was walking away from the accident scene and made no attempt to flag him down. He also said the person was wearing a gray sweatshirt.

Jimenez, who continued on to the scene, said he radioed instructions to other responding units to stop the female he saw for further questioning. Jimenez also stated that neither suspect returned to the scene and when he looked in the overturned car, he saw Camero mortally injured in the rear driver-side seat.

During cross examination Mendez asked Jimenez to confirm that he saw only one female subject walking away from the scene. Jimenez confirmed that he saw only one subject walking southbound on Power Inn Road.

Masuda did not cross examine Jimenez.

The trial, which is expected to last two weeks, continues tomorrow in Department 42 of the Sacramento Superior Court.

Thank you for following this trial. I heard the collision from three blocks away. Many in this community know all three parties involved as they attend MTHS with our kids.

Many of us feared that this trial would never happen since the parents of the two girls have the ability to hide them outside the United States.
