In what is quickly becoming a crowded field, congressional staffer Igor Birman is expected to formally announce his candidacy tomorrow for California's 7th Congressional District.

According to a Facebook posting, Birman will make his formal announcement at Folson's Outdoor Amphitheater at 10 a.m Thursday. Birman is a senior staff member for Congressman Tom McClintock (R-Elk Grove).

Birman's expected announcement comes on the heels of former Congressman Doug Ose's entry into the race. Birman joins fellow Republicans Ose and Elizabeth Emken as they attempt to unseat freshman Congressman Dr. Ami Bera (D-Elk Grove).

All four current candidates will face-off in the June primary and the top two vote-getters regardless of party affiliation will advance to the November run-off.

WHO? What is it with these wanna be politicians that have never even lived in this area moving here and thinking they can run for Congress. I read an article that this guy, who is what 30/40, is registered to vote at his parents house in Oakland. I have heard of Emken, based on her two loses in previous campaigns. At least Ose lives in the district and has a business here.

Is this the best the Republican party can do?

What are you talking about? Birman lives in Rancho Cordova and has lived in the Sacramento area since he enrolled at UC Davis in 1998. Ask Ose if he can vote for himself. He doesn't live in the district he wants to represent!

Didn't Ose vote to grant social security to illegal aliens?

The mud slinging between Ose and Birman ought to be interesting. That's fine, it will give Emken a big opening.

Emken? Isn't she the lady who thought Obamacare just wasn't big enough? Birman all the way.

I went to UC Davis with Igor. Funny I remember him being the President of our College Democrat group. Amazing how someone that was as liberal as him would go to work for Tom McClintock.

If the account about Birman at UC Davis is correct, it sounds like Mr. Burman is the Republican version of Elk Grove Democratic Mayor Gary Davis - join the political party not based on principles but the party that can accommodate their own political ambition.
