A woman was injured following a Saturday night mugging in Elk Grove.

According to police reports, the 58-year old victim was leaving a business on the 8400 block of Elk Grove-Florin Road shortly before 9 p.m. when she was pushed from behind by an unknown suspect. When the victim fell to the ground, the mugger grabbed her purse and bags and fled the area on foot.

Responding officers were unable to locate the mugger who was described as being a black male adult, 5'5", with a medium build and was wearing a white hooded jacket with dark pants. The victim's knee was injured when she fell.

Although this story did not report it, if you check the city's daily summary report, you will note one additional fact about this incident - the victim was described as a Asian female adult. Not trying to be stereotypical, but the victim was probably small in stature. This type of teen-young male adult crime on older females of Asian decent has been very typical in the Bay Area. It now seems to be spreading here. What a gutless thug!
