As part of the four city-sponsored events hosted this year, the City of Elk Grove is seeking sponsors to participate in well-attended, highly-visible community events.

“Economic development in every form is important to us here,” Mayor Gary Davis said.  “Events are one of many strategies that the City of Elk Grove is implementing to spur our local economy, bring our city together, and foster our sense of community.”

Festivals and events planned for 2014 include:

·         Big Truck Day: Big trucks are a big hit with children of all ages.  On May 21, the City of Elk Grove and community partners will roll out their biggest and best vehicles to celebrate Public Works Week.  The free event features tactile educational exhibits, activities, food and family entertainment.   The event will be held at the Laguna Gateway Shopping Center to accommodate more than 1,200 expected guests.

·         Go Fest:  Run, walk, pedal, or roll to this new event on May 31 celebrating National Bike Month and active, healthy living for all ages.  This event will be held on Longleaf Drive and will feature a fun run/walk, bike cruise, fitness classes, workshops, and activity zones for kids of all ages.  Businesses are encouraged to step up to the region’s newest fitness inspired festival and “Join the Movement.”

·         Salute to the Red, White and Blue: Join the City of Elk Grove on July 4 in celebrating America at this annual patriotic event.  New activities in 2014 will include a pancake breakfast, bike parade, custom car show and fireworks spectacular.  More than 14,000 are expected to attend this annual event held at Elk Grove Regional Park.

·         Multicultural Festival: Elk Grove’s premier celebration of diversity will be held on Aug. 23, and will feature a global celebration of music, food, dance and fashion.   More than 7,000 are expected to attend this third annual event held at Elk Grove Regional Park.

“Working together, we can create magical celebrations, experiences and memories for our community that generate positive economic results,” Davis said.

Are these events going to feature political booths for our "leaders"? Free of charge of course?
