Gas station and fast food developer Gil Moore is in negotiations with the City of Elk Grove to purchase two parcels on East Stockton Boulevard along Highway 99 according to information posted today.

According to the special closed session meeting agenda of the Elk Grove City Council for Wednesday, February 26, Moore is negotiating for two separate parcels located north and south of Sheldon Road. Other negotiating parties for the north piece are Tsakopoulos Investments and for the southern parcel Monument Properties and George Carpenter .

Moore is building a McDonald's, AM/PM gas station and liquor store on the corner of Sheldon Road and East Stockton Boulevard after successfully lobbying city council members to change the city's highway ordinance to allow his non-freeway fronted development to have signs along Highway 99. Moore and McDonald's representative Susan Green said a highway billboard was needed to ensure success for the fast food outlet.

Darn, I wanted to buy that and put a sign on it that read, "Destination City of Big Macs & Walmarts."

Time to open the checkbook again. Let's see who is the benefactor this time? Davis? Cooper? Maybe even Chaires? Whatever it takes; how much it takes; Gil Moore is shameless and will pay off whoever and how much it takes. Greed is a terrible motivator. But apparently a successful one.

The land at the corner of Power Inn and Sheldon Roads is within the new monument sign overlay.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a huge sign placed there, right across the street from a gated private lake housing a little cluster of elitists with a sign, "How do you like the new sign ordinance now?"

LOL....and the McDonalds burger wrappers blowing in the lake. But then again maybe we can send the groups of hangers-out that are now gathering at the Bruceville & Whitelock location now. Seems that is slowly becoming a problem at that store and overflowing across the street to the other commercial center. Hopefully the PD is on top of this before someone is hurt...like those Seniors nearby.

Destination City?

Yeah, just like Modesto the city of water, wealth, contentment, health.

Or lovely sprawling Stockton, home of the Delta knife and gun club.
