A quick response by Elk Grove Police led to the arrest of two suspected car and identification thieves on Saturday afternoon.

According to police reports, an EGPD officer observed that 27-year old Santos Vela of Sacramento was driving a car that had just been reported stolen from the 8400 block of Elk Grove Boulevard. Accompanying the driver was  23-year old Jessica Munoz of Sacramento.

After conducting a felony vehicle stop officers detained both suspects.  A search of Vela led to the discovery of a shaved key and credit cards and identification that had been reported stolen in Sacramento.

In addition, a record search check revealed that Vela and Munoz had active warrants out for their arrest. Both suspects were arrested and  remain in custody at the county jail.
