In what could be one of many new billboards for Elk Grove, tonight the Elk Grove Planning Commission will hear a request to erect a new 75-foot high billboard on church property along Highway 99 near the Bond Road-Laguna Boulevard exit.
The request, from Bruce Bishop of Monument Partners, is seeking permission to place a billboard on property owned by the Full Gospel Community Church of Elk Grove. The proposed billboard, which lies in one of the business center district sign zones that were created following Elk Grove gas station operator and fast food developer Gil Moore's successful lobbying of the Elk Grove City for changes to the city's billboard ordinance, will have advertisements for several non-freeway adjacent businesses.
The planning staff report recommends approval of the proposed billboard. Tonight's meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Elk Grove City Hall council chambers.

75 foot high signs?? OMG, just more of the same old stuff you see up and down hwy 99. I thought there was a maximum sign height of 50 foot? I think this is just crazy..but I would bet my old VW that this will pass without much discussion. The fix was done on this with the Sheldon Road fiasco. Sad that EG had a pretty clear slate when they stated to build a city 14 years ago...and look what they built?? Strip malls and high way signs. Great job fellas.
Elk Grove is a strong candidate to join the Arm Pits of the Valley Hall of Fame.
