An Elk Grove man was arrested late yesterday morning after he tried to pass counterfeit money at an area grocery store.

According to Elk Grove Police, 34-year old Aaron Michael Gerlinger allegedly tried to pass a phony $100 bill at the Bel Air store on Elk Grove Boulevard and Waterman Road. After he left the store, a responding officer located him a short distance away and an employee positively identified him.

A records check revealed Gerlinger has several active arrest warrants. Gerlinger was arrested and booked into the county jail were he remains in custody on $516,836 bail.
