Any surprise that in his strategy to improve Elk Grove and bring jobs the first thing you need to do is build homes...look where the money is coming from.

How is it legal that a council member can vote on any issue that comes before them when their palms have been greased by the party at hand.

I guess we know how much it costs for folks like Gil Moore to get what they want.

Mr. Hume you can come off polished and well spoken but you're just like every other greedy politician.

What do you all expect from Hume? This leopard hasn't changed his spots. Hume is a home builder aka Emerald Park Company. He hangs out and supports his own. He is Mr. Rooftops, Rooftops, Rooftops!

Didn't you hear him take Jeff Owen publicly to task when Mr. Owen suggested that the council not approve any more housing developments?

As has been said in the past, Hume is the “Developers’ Delight!”

With the possible exception of Bob Trigg, council members in Elk Grove are just glorified errant boys for the developers. The may talk about integrity, transparency, building stronger neighborhoods or ensuring community safety, but the one thing each have in common is they obediently march to the orders of the home builders.

Ask yourself this: will Chaires or Ly really be any different? Oh sure, they will each have their talking points, discuss their rags to riches story while wrapping it up nicely in the flag of the American dream, but when the developers dangle that money just above their money-sniffing noses, I think we all know how they will react.

Hell, I am sure if Trigg were to stick around long enough he would experience a metamorphosis just like Detrick did.

Although this article is in regards to Mr. Hume, the name could easily be changed to every other elected official.

The is one more case that supports the argument to revisit the subject of campaign finance reform. When a typical election in the City of Elk Grove can cost upwards of $200,000, many well qualified candidates are hesitant to put their name & their personal assets in the hat. Candidates find themselves in the vicious cycle of chasing the contribution tail. In most cases, that dollar comes with an implied expectation. If you disagree, I suggest you simply take note of the donors, and compare that list to an individual's voting record.

It's too late.

Elk Grove is already a big sprawling mess with no culture, no jobs, lousy infrastructure.

More rooftops means more bland strip centers and high density low income housing projects down the road.

More high density low income housing projects mean more burglaries, armed robberies, stabbings, shootings, home invasions, etc.

Sprawl on like Stockton, Fresno, Turlock and Modesto.

Stockton for that matter has more to offer in terms of good local restaurants, a ballet, symphony, private university, water front, regional mall etc.

Can't wait for the next reports to see how much money flowed into the cofers from Silverado after June 30th.

Where are the reports for Davis, Chaires, Ly and Cooper?

They are not posted on the City web site. I suppose they could have been filed and the city just hasn't posted them as yet or NOT.

According to the Elk Grove City Clerk's office, financial disclosures from Mayor Davis, Vice Mayor Jim Cooper and District 4 city council candidates Nancy Chaires and Steve Ly were filed by yesterday's deadline. The city clerk's office will post them on the city's website after processing.
