Kaiser Permanente announced that it has awarded $190,000 in grants to a host of agencies serving the Sacramento and Elk Grove area. Among Elk Grove-based organizations receiving grants is the Elk Grove Food Bank Services (EGFBS) who received $26,000 for their nutritionally enhanced mobile pantry and programs sponsored by the Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD).

"Kaiser Permanente has supported the Elk Grove Food Bank Services (EGFBS) for over a decade and this latest gift demonstrates its continued support for hunger relief and health care efforts in our community," Marie Jachino, Executive Director of EGFBS said. "This funding will enable the Food Bank to distribute more meals to hundreds of children, seniors and families each week through our expanded Mobile Pantry program. We are honored to partner with Kaiser Permanente."

Along with the EGFBS, Kaiser also donated funds to a number of programs sponsored by the EGUSD Among them is the district's Teen Parent Program that received more than $30,000 to increase the number of pregnant and parenting teens regularly attending school and to increase healthcare access and other supportive services for teen parents.
