An Elk Grove man is in custody at the Sacramento County jail after he allegedly hit a pedestrian while driving under the influence of alcohol yesterday afternoon.

According to Elk Grove Police 28-year old Charles Reich Maples was operating a motor vehicle near Harbour Point Drive and Renwick Avenue that was involved in a collision with a pedestrian. Responding officers arrived and arrested the suspect after he showed objective signs of impairment.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment for injuries sustained in the collision. Maples is being held on a $50,000 bail.

Saw this first hand. It was horrible. Does anyone know if the girl who got hit will be ok?

She was injured severely. Her arm was paralyzed and she had to quit her job as a nurse because of this accident.
