A would-be sale of athletic shoes negotiated on social media led to an armed robbery in Elk Grove on Saturday afternoon.

According to Elk Grove Police, the sale of a pair of Nike Air Jordan athletic shoes had been arranged on a social media site and a meeting place was selected. When the victim met the suspect on the 8400 block of Kingmont Way, the suspect brandished a gun that had been hidden in his waistband and demanded the shoes.

After robbing the shoes, the suspect fled on foot and the victim did not pursue him. The suspect was described as a black male juvenile, 5'8", 160 lbs., wearing a black beanie, dark colored sweatshirt, sweatpants and black shoes.
