The Cosumnes Community Service District and The City of Elk Grove will celebrate the opening of an island adventure-themed park this Thursday night in Laguna Ridge.

Island Park will officially open to the public on Thursday, and a grand opening celebration is planned for 5:30 p.m. at the new park, located at 8825 Bonito Circle.

The Island Park celebration will include a brief ribbon cutting ceremony followed by island holiday-themed festivities, including milk and cookies with Santa Claus, pictures with Santa and Grover the Elk, special giveaways and a preview of the new park. The event will be held rain or shine, but will be cancelled in the event of extreme weather.

The new 2.3-acre park, developed in partnership with the Cosumnes Community Services District, features island-inspired park features and play equipment, as well as sandy play areas, picnic tables and an outdoor fitness station.

Hey Willy, don't give the mayor or the city council any ideas now, the next thing you know they'll want to build a big Sea world type of amusement center!
