An Elk Grove man was pistol whipped on Friday morning during a home invasion style robbery that started when he took out some garbage.

According to police reports, the 59-year old male victim arrived at his house on the 5000 block of Krista Court and drove his car into the garage. After parking, the victim took some garbage to the curb when he was approached by an unknown person, who brandished a handgun and demanded money.

The suspect then held the male victim at gunpoint and directed him into his residence. When entering the residence, the suspect confronted a 37-year old female victim who was able to flee.

The male victim then was led to the upstairs of the residence where the suspect struck him in the head with the handgun and took an undisclosed amount of cash from a drawer.

The suspect, who was described as a black male adult, thin build, short hair style and wearing a dark t-shirt, dark colored pants and white shoes, fled the residence and was not located.
