Elk Grove Man in Custody on Suspicion of Shoplifting, Evading Arrest

An Elk Grove man remains in custody at the Sacramento County Jail after an alleged shoplifting incident at an area retailer.

According to Elk Grove police, 36-year old Antonio Easton White was observed shoplifting on Friday afternoon at the Kohls on Calvine and Elk Grove-Florin roads. After leaving the store without purchasing the merchandise, the suspect was approached by a store employee who attempted to detain him.

White reportedly fled and when responding Elk Grove Police officers attempted to detain him, he continued fleeing. During the course of the foot pursuit, the suspect punched a store employee.

After detaining White, he was found to be in possession of burglary tools. White is in custody on a $70,000 bail.
