CCSD Headquarters Building Total Loss in Overnight Fire

The headquarters building of the Cosumnes Community Services District (CCSD) building sustained major damages in an overnight fire.

The headquarters building, which is housed in a historic former school dating to 1922 on Elk Grove Boulevard, is believed to be a total loss. Among other services provided by the CCSD are fire protection services for Elk Grove and Galt.

According to several reports, the fire started shortly after midnight today and resulted in a three alarm response. The headquarters is 200-yards from the district's Station 71 on Elk Grove Boulevard.

The fire reportedly started in an attic of the structure and suppression was hampered by lather and plaster construction. The building did not have an interior sprinkler system.

There are no reported injuries in the incident.
