Elk Grove Police are investigating a shooting that happened last night at 10:22.

According to police reports, the 35-year old male victim and his wife were in the driveway of their residence on the 8600 block of Hume Court when they were confronted by two black male suspects wearing dark clothing. During an altercation, the suspects took personal property from the victim. 

One of the suspects then shot the victim in the upper torso. As they fled on foot, the armed suspect fired the handgun in the direction of victim's  wife who was near their residence. The suspects possibly fled the location in a dark colored vehicle. 

The victim was transported to a local area hospital suffering from non-life threatening injuries.

Pat Hume is fair game as an elected official, but Hume Court was not named after him. It was named after his father, Col. Harlan Hume, who was killed while serving our Country.

The street sign is also part of our street naming program in honor of Veterans. Let’s show some respect here.

The criminals probably robbed the Asian victim because they think most Asians are not carrying concealed weapons.
