Tip of the Week - Residential Vacation Checks - Before going on vacation make sure that you contact the Elk Grove Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) and submit a Residential Vacation Check application.

While residents are on vacation, the VIPS patrol team will visit registered houses in a marked vehicle, checking front and back yards, windows, and doors. The volunteer patrol team has been trained to notice any inconsistencies in the appearance of houses that may be a symptom of a burglary.

Upon return, residents receive a copy of the logs that were kept by the VIPS patrol team. This service is provided free of charge to residents within the City of Elk Grove.

There are three ways to register for the Residential Vacation Checks:

•Please download an application (http://bit.ly/1DiXEgR) and submit it to our Service Center. If mailing in your request, you will receive a confirmation call upon receipt of application. Please allow extra time if mailing in your request so that you are sure to receive confirmation before your departure.
•You may call our Service Center to submit a request over the phone. •You may come into our Service Center and fill out a Residential Vacation Check application in person.
