In a letter to ratepayers, the Elk Grove Water District outlined additional mandatory conservation measures following Gov. Jerry Brown's recent executive order.
The new restrictions now include the following:
- Irrigation must be restricted to two days a week
- No irrigation during and up to 48 hours after measurable rainfall
- No serving of water except upon request in all eating and drinking establishments
- Hotels and Motels shall provide guest with the option of not having towel and lines laundered everyday

Penalties for water wasting are as follows:
- First violation: Customer is notified of violation
- Second violation: Written warning is sent to customer
- Third violation: $200 fine and customer is scheduled for mandatory water audit
- Fourth violation: $500 fine and a flow restriction device is installed
- Fifth violation: $500 fine and the water service is shut off. Connection fee assessed to reactivate water service
The Elk Grove Water District serves most of the customers east of Highway 99 and South of Sheldon Road. Other non-rural parts of Elk Grove have water service from the Sacramento County Water Agency.

Where is the water going to come from? Sure isn't coming from thin air.
We won't even have enough water to flush our toilets.
Continued drought, one of the worst in over 500 years and they want to allow more new home construction which will lead to even more high density Low Income Housing Projects?
