Suspected Drunk Driver Leads Elk Grove Police on Pursuit

An Elk Grove man suspected of drunk driving led police on vehicle pursuit yesterday morning.

According to Elk Grove Police, 37-year old Sanjeev Mishra was driving a vehicle that was involved in a collision with another vehicle. An Elk Grove Police officer observed Mishra driving away without exchanging information with the driver of the other vehicle.

When the officer attempted to stop Mishra, he did not stop and led police on a 1.4 mile pursuit. Police utilized the Pursuit Intervention Technique in the 8600 block of Elk Grove Blvd and the suspect was detained. Upon contact, Mishra displayed objective signs of impairment.

After he was medically cleared, the suspect was arrested and booked into the county jail where he remains in custody on a $55,000 bail.
