An Elk Grove woman was shot at when she came home to an in-progress burglary yesterday afternoon.

According to Elk Grove Police, the 38-year old victim arrived at her residence on the 9400 block of Sierra River Drive to discover an in-progress burglary. When the victim approached one of the suspects who was seated in the driver's seat of a dark colored vehicle, another suspect grabbed the victim from behind and made threats with a handgun.

When she was released, the victim ran to her vehicle and was pursued by the suspect who grabbed her, took her car keys and shot the car on the drivers side. When the victim tried to call police, the suspect took her cell phone.

The suspects fled northbound on Sierra River Way. The suspect who accosted the victim and shot the car was described as a black male adult, tall in his 20's and the suspect who was seated in the car described as a Hispanic female adult.

The victim was not injured and at this time, the loss appears to be personal property and a cell phone, which was later recovered nearby.
