Three men suspected of a residential burglary were arrested Sunday morning after a vigilant witness was able to provide crucial information to police.

According to Elk Grove Police, three men believed to be residential burglars were witnessed leaving in a vehicle from a residence on the 9700 block of Kapula Lane. The witness was able to provide a vehicle description and a license plate number.

The witness stopped following the vehicle when one of the occupants pointed a handgun in his direction. Responding officers located the vehicle and conducted an enforcement stop at Elk Grove Boulevard and Kent Street.

The three occupants were detained by police officers and positively identified by the witness. A search of the suspects' vehicle led to the discovery of property stolen from the home and an unloaded handgun.

The three suspects, 24-year old John Leo Ryan of Elk Grove, 32-year old Jason Taylor of Elk Grove, and 20-year-old Michael Riddlesperger of Sacramento were arrested and booked into the county jail. All three remain in custody where they face a variety of charges including violation of the terms of their probation and will be arraigned tomorrow.
