A 15-year old student was assaulted and injured on his way to school yesterday afternoon near Elk Grove's Monterey Trail High School. 

According to Elk Grove Police, the victim was walking to school on the 8400 block of Auberry Drive when he confronted by two unknown suspects who started punching him in the head and then stole his necklace. As the two suspects fled, the victim noticed one of them had a handgun in his waistband.

The suspects fled in a black Honda Civic and the victim suffered a visible injury. The first suspect was described as a Black male adult, 19 years of age, 5’6” tall, 160 lbs., wearing a gray shirt and jeans. The suspect packing the handgun was black male adult, 19 years of age, 5’9” tall, 140 lbs., wearing a black sweatshirt and black sweat pants.
