An Elk Grove man is in custody on multiple charges after he was arrested for an alleged domestic violence incident early Tuesday morning.

According to Elk Grove Police, 21-year old Eric Hughes was allegedly involved in an argument that escalated to a physical confrontation. Hughes alleged slapped his victim in the face, then punched the victim in the face with a closed fist and pushed the victim into the wall.

Hughes then reportedly threw the victim's laptop computer causing damage and took the victim's vehicle without permission and left the residence. Responding officers located Hughes and conducted an enforcement stop.

Hughes was detained, handcuffed and placed in the back of the patrol car. Hughes was unable to undo the seatbelt and began hitting his feet and head on the vehicle. Hughes was secured with a WRAP restraint device and booked into the county jail.

Hughes is being held on three felony and two misdemeanor charges with a bail of $50,000 with his arraignment scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
