A suspected shoplifter flashed a handgun during a Saturday night shoplifting incident in Elk Grove.

According to Elk Grove Police, two women and one man, described as Hispanic adults in their 20's, were observed running out of the Bel Air store on Elk Grove-Florin and Calvine roads with a basket full of alcoholic beverages. An employee chased the two suspects into the parking lot where they attempted to get into a black Honda Civic.

The employee was able to get the merchandise back as one of the female suspects struck the employee with the car door several times. The driver, an unidentified Hispanic male adult exited the vehicle and lifted up his shirt displaying what appeared to be a handgun.

The employee backed away and the three suspects fled in the Honda. The store employee was not injured in the robbery.
