Voters in Modesto have handily defeated a 1/2 cent sales tax increase and a growth control measure is in a virtual tie.

With 69-percent of precincts reporting, Measure G, which would have increased sales taxes to fund public safety, is being defeated by a 55 to 45-percent margin. With close to three quarters precincts reporting and a 66-percent approval threshold, Measure G will be defeated.

Measure I, which would limit growth in Modesto, is only separated by two votes out of 9,786 votes casts. As of 9:33 tonight, there are 4,889 yes votes and 4,887 no votes.

Uh Oh, Elk Grove might have to start spending within its means. Let's have a bonfire rally and pile up those feasibility studies as starter fuel!

Darn, didn't they know you have to spend $47,000. to poll 500 voters before putting this on a ballot?

What perhaps the voters are telling the City is that they do not trust them to use the funds wisely. Much as I would think you will find in our City...bad track record! One most recent indication is their spending of $47,000 to poll a few voters.

How can we get an anti growth measure on our ballet? That's something I can get behind.
