Elk Grove Kids Taken Into Protective Custody, Mom Arrested For Endangerment

An Elk Grove mother is in custody at the Sacramento County Jail after she was arrested yesterday morning on suspicion of transporting three young children without child safety seats.

According to Elk Grove Police reports, officers were dispatched to Fry Creek Drive and Aspen Lane regarding a vehicle driving recklessly in the area with three small unrestrained children inside the vehicle. Officers located the vehicle fitting the description and conducted a vehicle stop. 

Officers found three children, all under the age of 5, seated in the back seat unrestrained. The driver of the car, 37-year old Angela Kephart was arrested for child endangerment and the children were taken into protective custody and turned over to Child Protective Services. 

Kephart is being held on a $50,000 bail and is scheduled for arraignment tomorrow afternoon.
