Two teenage victims were injured after they were attacked with a metal bat outside an Elk Grove movie theater early Sunday morning.

According to Elk Grove Police, a large group of people that included 14 and 16-year old males were leaving the Century Movie Theaters on Big Horn Boulevard shortly after midnight when they encountered another group of teenagers. According to witnesses, both groups began yelling gang slang at each other.

A 14-year old male attacked the two victims with a metal baseball bat striking both in the head several times. Responding officers were able to detain the suspect and the metal baseball bat was recovered.

The suspect was taken into custody, booked into juvenile hall and is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with a gang enhancement. The victims were transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment.
