As the Elk Grove-South County Democratic Club kicks off what will be a busy year including endorsements for the 2016 primaries and elections, the group's first meeting of the year will feature a Democratic Elk Grove City Councilman.

Speaking to the group will be City Councilman Darren Suen who was appointed to the Elk Grove City Council's District One seat when former Councilman Jim Cooper vacated the seat upon his 2014 election to the California Assembly. Suen, who will run for election in November for a four year term, will discuss his rookie year as a Council Member, what he hopes to accomplish during this term, his election plans and what future issues he would like to address.

The open meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 12 at the Elk Grove Public Library and will start at 6:30 p.m. For more information contact club president Dan Schmitt at (916) 687-8744 or egscdems@gmail.com
