Three suspects are in custody today after Elk Grove Police responded to an in-progress residential burglary.
Officers were dispatched to the 8500 block Iris Crest Way after receiving notification from a caller hearing breaking glass and observing two individuals entering a residence. Officers in an unmarked car arrived and located a third suspect in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked in front of the home where the burglary was taking place.
As patrol officers were arriving, 21-year old Matthew Alexander Coleman and 23-year old Donnell Wade, both of Sacramento, exited the house and got into the parked vehicle. As the vehicle drove away, officers conducted an enforcement stop.
The occupants were detained while officers checked the residence. Officers confirmed that the house had been burglarized and recovered stolen property belonging to the victim of the burglary.
Coleman and Wade were arrested and booked into the county jail. Coleman is ineligible for bail and faces four felony charges including criminal street gang to assist in criminal conduct while Wade faces the same charges but is being held on a $615,000 bail.
The driver of the suspected getaway car who is a 16-year old male is being held at Juvenile Hall after being arrested.
