A grocery store on Elk Grove's east side was robbed at gunpoint last night.

Shortly after 9:30 Elk Grove Police officers were dispatched to the Bel Air store on the corner of Elk Grove Boulevard and Waterman Road following an armed robbery. According to reports, the unknown suspect entered the store, approached a cashier, brandished a handgun and demanded that the register be opened.

After the cashier complied with the demands, the suspect grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the store on foot. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect and the cashier was not injured.

The suspect was described as a white male adult, 6`0", thin build, with a hoodie that was pulled over his head with the strings pulled tight around his face.
