Elk Grove Restaurant Robbed by Armed Gunman

March 28, 2016 |

An unknown man robbed an Elk Grove restaurant at gunpoint on Friday morning.

Just before noon an unknown suspect entered the Tea Garden Chinese Restaurant on Laguna Main Street, approached an employee, and brandished a handgun demanding the cash register be opened. After the employee complied, the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen fleeing in a four door car driven by an unknown person.

The robber was described as a Hispanic male adult, 5`9" to 5`10", 170 lbs., wearing a mask over his face, a gray sweater with black sleeves and dark pants. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect or the car and the employee was not injured.

This is terrible. The crime and general vibe on the West side of town is really going downhill....

So sad. this is a great place with great food. Such a shame to see this happen to them.

Several of us were in the restaurant when it happened. We were not facing the counter and did not see or hear anything while it happened. It was a good ten minutes before any officers arrived.
