Elk Grove Police Arrests Probationer, Being Held on Credit Card Theft Charges

May 2, 2016 |

A probationer was arrested Friday afternoon after she allegedly stole a credit card from a grocery store customer.

The suspect, 35-year old Ebony Brown (pictured above) of Sacramento was inside the Grocery Outlet store on Bond Road when she stole a wallet from a customer’s shopping cart. Brown proceeded to shop and was confronted by the victim and multiple witnesses at the checkout line.

Brown attempted to flee and forcefully pushed the owner of the wallet to the ground but was detained by responding Elk Grove Police officers as she exited the store. Brown was positively identified as being responsible for the robbery and a records check revealed she was on probation.

A search of Brown led to the discovery of debit cards and checks that did not belong to her. Brown was arrested and booked into the county jail where she is being held on $145,000 bail and faces one misdemeanor and four felony charges. Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
