Probationer Jailed After Probation Violation, Suspected Shoplifting of Elk Grove Dollar Store

An El Dorado probationer is in custody at the Sacramento County Jail after he was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting.

On Friday morning Elk Grove Police officers were dispatched to the Dollar Tree store on Sheldon Road after receiving calls of suspicious behavior. Responding officers arrived and recognized  54-year old Anthony Cordeiro as a known probationer. 

Cordeiro reportedly began removing merchandise from the inside of his shirt when contacted and was detained. A probation search that led to the discovery of narcotics paraphernalia and merchandise that the suspect allegedly stole from Dollar Tree. 

Cordeiro was arrested and booked into the county jail where he remains in custody on $20,000 bail for violation probation and misdemeanor petty theft charges. Arraignment is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
