Elk Grove Police Arrest Suspect Who Allegedly Robbed Juvenile Victim at Gunpoint

August 22, 2016 |

A Sacramento man is being held at the Sacramento County Jail on a bail of $75,000 after he allegedly stole marijuana at gunpoint from a juvenile victim.

Early Friday evening the 13-year old male juvenile victim was walking near Lewis Stein Road and West Stockton Boulevard when he was approached by 24-year old John Gomez. The suspect pulled out a handgun from his waist band, pointed, and demanded the victim give him a bag of marijuana.

While the victim complied, an unknown citizen intervened and Gomez fled the area on foot. As Gomez was fleeing the location, the victim saw him throw the weapon into a nearby field.

Responding officers located Gomez a short distance away and he initially provided false information about his identity. Gomez was positively identified by the victim and he was arrested.

With the assistance of a K-9 unit, the weapon was located. Gomez is being held on four felony charges and will be arraigned Tuesday afternoon.
