Two suspects were arrested late Sunday night after they were observed street racing in Elk Grove.

Around 11 p.m. an Elk Grove Police officer observed two cars engaged in a street race on Elk Grove Boulevard near Laguna Springs Drive. When the officer attempted to stop both vehicles, one being driven by 24-year old Jasdeep Badwin of Elk Grove pulled over, but the other car driven by a 17-year old Elk Grove male did not yield.

The juvenile led officers on a short pursuit into a residential neighborhood. After travelling less than one mile, the juvenile abandoned the car at Dunblane Way and Wynndel Way and fled on foot.

A perimeter was established and additional law enforcement resources responded to assist. The juvenile was located in a nearby park area, and was found in possession of the keys to the car he abandoned.

Officers at the first stop contacted Badwin who displayed objective signs of impairment. A search of his vehicle led to the discovery of two open containers of beer.

Badwin was arrested and booked into the county jail and the juvenile was taken into custody then transported to juvenile hall.
