A probationer was arrested early Tuesday morning after leading Elk Grove Police on a 10.3 mile vehicle pursuit.

Elk Grove Police observed a vehicle being driven by 63-year old Mikhail Smeretskiy near Highways 50 and 99 without headlights on in the dark. When officers attempted to conduct a vehicle stop, the suspect did not stop and led officers on a 10.3 mile pursuit southbound on HWY 99.

Smeretskiy took the Elk Grove Boulevard exit then yielded in the 76 Gas Station parking lot. Upon contact, the suspect was detained and smelled of alcohol.

A records check revealed that Smeretskiy was on probation and that his driver’s license was suspended. Smeretskiy was arrested, booked into the county jail and has been released.
