Neuburger Drops Out of Elk Grove City Council Race, Throws Support to Craft

October 12, 2016 |

The field of candidates for Elk Grove's District 3 City Council race decreased by one today with the announcement that Vincent Neuburger is ending his campaign. Neuburger was one of two Democratic candidates seeking to oust two-term council member Steve Detrick has offered his support for the other candidate, Maureen Craft.

“I am ending my campaign and endorsing Maureen Craft for Elk Grove City Council,” Neuburger said in his joint statement with Craft. “This decision was made based on my desire to see that there is change at City Hall. The residents of District 3 deserve better representation, and Elk Grove cannot afford another four years of Steven Detrick. I urge my fellow Elk Grove residents to come together to elect Maureen Craft as our next City Councilmember.”

Craft, who yesterday received the endorsement of Sacramento Mayor-elect Darrell Steinberg, thanked Neuburger for the support and praised his commitment to the community.

"He is deeply dedicated to Elk Grove and I applaud his passion for the future of our community,” Craft said. “Today’s announcement is about ensuring that all Elk Grove families have access to high-quality services, safe neighborhoods, and living wage jobs.”

Along with Steinberg, Craft has been endorsed by the Sacramento County Democratic Committee, the Sacramento County Young Democrats, the South County Democratic Club, and the Sacramento Central Labor Council.
