Detectives from the Sacramento Sheriff's Department are investigating a shooting that took place this morning that left one man dead.  

A little before 4:00 a.m., the Sheriff’s Communication Center received a 911 call regarding a man down on the street in the area of 43rd Avenue and Franklin Boulevard in South Sacramento.


Deputies responded to the scene and located an unidentified male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Homicide detectives responded to the scene, and are looking for any witnesses to the event. Residents in the area reported hearing multiple gunshots just before 4:00 a.m. 

There is no known motive or suspect description at this time. The identity of the victim in this case will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office, after notification has been made to his next of kin.
