Elk Grove Police apprehended two Stockton men after they were suspected of breaking into a vehicle and stealing property.

Police officers responded to the 2800 block of Dinwiddie Way in the Laguna West neighborhood shortly after midnight on Thursday, February 23 after receiving a call regarding two men inside the callers vehicle. When the suspects fled the location, the victim provided police their description.

Responding officers located and detained the suspects a short distance away from the scene. The victim indicated that a cell phone and additional property were taken from the unlocked vehicle. Johnathan King, 21, was found to be in possession of the stolen cell phone and a records check revealed that he had two active warrants out for his arrest from the Stockton Police Department.

The other suspect, Daniel Garabay, 33, was found to be on probation and was in possession of a controlled substance and a burglary tool. Both suspects were arrested then transported to the main jail.

Garabay has been released and King remains in custody with arraignment scheduled for Monday, February 27.
